Writer's Guidelines for Island

An Australian literary magazine of fiction, poetry, nonfiction and arts features. This publication engages with pre-eminent writers, while also developing and promoting new voices.

  • Payment for print: Fiction and nonfiction $0.20 per word, with a minimum of $350 and a maximum of $750. Poetry:  $125 per poem. (Fees for print are less the cost of a 4-issue subscription if you are not a current subscriber).
  • Payment for Island Online: $200 for short-form fiction and nonfiction.
