I've been a tad busy, moving between cities, so I haven't posted in a few weeks. Here is a quick round-up of a few of the biggest stories you might have missed.
Department of Justice has won the ebook antitrust case against Apple.
The decision in favor of the DOJ by Judge Denise Cote comes after three weeks of trial at which the outcome of the case seemed likely to go either way at certain points. Read more >>
Big Changes at Barnes & Noble
There have been notable changes at Barnes & Noble. In late June the company announced greater than expected losses for the quarter and revealed that they will discontinue their Nook Tablet business. In early July William Lynch resigned as CEO of the company.
“Going forward, the company intends to continue to design e-reading devices and reading platforms, while creating a partnership model for manufacturing in the competitive color tablet market,” the company wrote in today’s earnings release. “Thus, the widely popular lines of Simple Touch™ and Glowlight™ products will continue to be developed in house, and the company’s tablet line will be co-branded with yet to be announced third party manufacturers of consumer electronics products.”
