There is a growing list of book fairs and writers' festivals around the world that have been cancelled or postponed after the World Health Organization's declared the novel coronavirus outbreak a pandemic on 11 March, 2020.
As part of protective measures being taken in many countries, mass gatherings of people are being avoided in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. Some of the major events cancelled include Sydney Writers' Festival, London Book Fair, and Auckland Writers Festival.
